Bridging the Digital Divide: Atulya Vikas Foundation Empowers Rural Children in India
Manvendra Sharma, a 34-year-old IT professional with a vision, is making a significant impact on the lives of underprivileged children in rural Uttar Pradesh, India. In November 2021, he founded the Atulya Vikas Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality and digital education to these children.
A Mission to Empower
Manav's mission is simple yet powerful: to bridge the educational gap between rural and urban India. He envisions a world where rural children have access to the same educational facilities and opportunities as their urban counterparts. This includes fostering a learning environment equipped with digital tools like tablets and computers, something completely absent within a 5 km radius of his chosen village in Gonda district.
From One Center to Many
Atulya Vikas Foundation's journey began with a full-time education center established in a village. Today, this center serves as a beacon of hope for over 250 students from nearby villages, offering them free, high-quality digital education. This initiative is particularly noteworthy considering the complete lack of computer access in the surrounding area.
Dedication Beyond Borders
Manav's commitment transcends geographical boundaries. Though he relocated to the US in April 2022, his dedication to the foundation hasn't wavered. Balancing his professional career with his passion, he devotes an additional 4-6 hours daily to overseeing the non-profit's operations and projects from afar. His unwavering dedication serves as an inspiration to many.
Impact Beyond Education
The Atulya Vikas Foundation's reach extends beyond education. Recognizing the importance of women's empowerment, Manav has facilitated the registration of women's self-help groups. This empowers women to become financially independent and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Manav's vision for the future is one where rural areas in India are transformed. He envisions a sustainable environment where children receive quality digital education within their villages. Additionally, he aims to provide basic services and facilities, empowering not just women but the entire rural community to thrive.
Manav Sharma's story is a testament to the power of one person's dedication. With his unwavering commitment and the support of others, the Atulya Vikas Foundation is making a lasting difference in the lives of countless rural children and women in India.
